Upper Burrell Township Road Department

The Upper Burrell Township Road Department is staffed by three full-time employees and one part-time employee who are responsible for maintaining approximately 25 miles of Township roadways. The department is supervised by the Road Foreman, and public safety remains the top priority in all operations.

Because road conditions change throughout the year, the department’s responsibilities shift with the seasons:

Spring

Crews coordinate the Township’s annual spring cleanup and focus on repairing damage caused by winter freeze-and-thaw cycles, including roadway maintenance and pothole repairs.

Summer

Staff continue routine maintenance while also preparing for larger projects, mowing, and roadside trimming.

Fall

Road patching continues, with added focus on culvert cleaning and replacement as needed to prepare for winter conditions.

Winter

The department devotes the majority of its time to snow removal and anti-skid application. During this season, crews also maintain an additional 25 miles of PennDOT-owned roadways.

In addition to seasonal responsibilities, the Road Department handles year-round vehicle maintenance. The team services and maintains its own fleet of trucks and equipment, as well as all Upper Burrell Township Police Department vehicles.
